Hummingbird Lavender Haze

From July, 2025…Close-ups are first followed by the fuller crops. The native bee balm was in full bloom and this young Ruby-throated hummingbird hovered for quite a while around one blossom. I shot this in our wildflower garden with a 400mm f/4.5 lens from a good ways off so I didn’t disturb him. I think this is a young male because his gorget is starting to get dark, but he wasn’t showing any “ruby sequins” at this point.
