June seems a long way off…
Last June (2025), I was waiting for hummingbirds on the patio. The patio is surrounded by native flowers like catmint, figwort (both early and late), and bee balm in addition to planters with cuphea (especially for the hummingbirds). The hummingbirds weren’t showing up right away, but this Honey Bee did and set about thoroughly exploring the White Catmint. I have to wonder what that honey will taste like. Anyway, the photo is a close-up taken with the Nikkor Z 400 f/4.5 (and not true macro that would require a 1:1 magnification ratio). But, the 400mm lens performed well, and I thought produced a sharp image given that I was some 12 or more feet away.
